The Aligner Intensive Fellowship 2.0 (TAIF) is a set of online courses founded by Dr. Mazyar Moshiri and Dr. Jonathan Nicozisis to educate the orthodontic community on the uses and benefits of aligner therapy. Both courses were updated in July 2023 with new information based on industry changes that have taken place in recent years since the Aligner Fellowship began.

Aside from increased confidence in treating cases with aligners and gaining access to a community of your peers, each course comes with:

Both courses have been updated with new information based on industry changes in the past few years, and starting with Fundamentals is always recommended. The Advanced course covers treatment for more complex and challenging cases. They can also be bought together as a discounted bundle. Lessons consist of videos and downloadable handouts that participants can view at their own pace, and instructors are available to answer questions for each lesson. The courses are 100% online, self-paced, accessible from any device, and you can start any time after enrollment.

You have permanent access to all of the course materials.

You do not have to complete the course to retain access, but you will need to complete by the course end date to earn CE credits and be eligible for Align promos. You can find the end date for your cohort on the TAIF Support page.

There are no live sessions; however, you are welcome to ask questions to the instructors anytime in the official course Facebook group. Additionally, you have the option to purchase a subscription to ClinCheck Confidential, which includes access to a library of 450+ ClinCheck case reviews, two new cases each week, and a monthly live session with one of the TAIF instructors where you can seek guidance on your cases.

Dr. Mazyar Moshiri and Dr. Jonathan Nicozisis co-founded the courses.

Dr. Moshiri has a private practice in St. Louis, MO and has been a faculty member for Align Technology since 2013.  Currently, he is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the orthodontic residency program at the Center for Advanced Dental Education at Saint Louis University, with a focus on clear aligners.  He serves on the clinical advisory boards of Orthodontic Partners, and LightForce Orthodontics, and is an Associate Editor for the Voice of an Expert column for the AJODO Clinical Companion.  Dr. Moshiri is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics as well as a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, the International College of Dentists, and the Pierre Fauchard Academy.

Dr. Nicozisis has private practices in New Jersey and is a member of Invisalign® National Speaker's Bureau and Clinical Research Network where he helps conduct research and development of new technologies and improvements to the Invisalign Technique; he was one of the original four doctors who helped develop Invisalign treatment protocols for teen and younger patients. He has given over 400 lectures nationally and internationally on aligner therapy. In 2014, Dr. Nicozisis co-authored a text book chapter on Invisalign with the company's director of research and development.

The courses are geared towards orthodontists in private practice; Fundamentals will benefit anyone looking for a foundation in aligner treatment or a refresher on the newest changes in the field, while Advanced covers more complex case treatment.

Orthodontists who have been in private practice for at least two years will have the best foundation of understanding for the courses; however, no previous aligner experience is required.

For Fundamentals of Aligner Orthodontics, you will be able to describe the fundamentals of aligner tooth movement, design force systems, apply treatment plans, manage refinement, finishing, and undertake business planning unique to aligner treatment.

For Advanced Aligner Treatments, you will be able to design protocols for treating extraction cases and managing impacted teeth, integrate TADs into aligner mechanics, plan orthognathic surgery cases using aligners, manage TMD disorders using split therapy and aligners, and coordinate treatment for complex restorative cases as well as complex growing patients.

Continuing Education is provided by Moshiri Orthodontics, AGD PACE Program Provider (Provider ID #218691). Approval does not imply acceptance by any regulatory authority or AGD endorsement. This program is accepted by the Academy of General Dentistry for FAGD/MAGD credit. Canadian participants may report these PACE-approved hours toward their provincial licensing requirements, subject to self-reporting regulations.

Yes, when you complete your final quiz and Course Evaluation, you will receive a CE certificate certifying your participation.

Each course has a dedicated Facebook group where you will be able to ask questions about any lesson and receive answers from the instructors.

After completing your course, you gain access to the TAIF Alumni group, where you can join 1800+ of your peers in collaborating and reviewing cases, questions, and tips weekly.
